The Chicago Blackhawks announced at last years trade deadline that they would be going in a new direction and entering a rebuild, which did not sit well with Patrick Kane and captain Jonathan Toews.
Kane is still producing at an elite level at the age of 33, scoring 92 points 78 games last season.
With one year left on a contract with a cap hit of $10,500,000, Kane wants to take another shot at a Stanley Cup in his career. The Blackhawks began trading away assets like Alex Debrincat and Kirby Dach this offseason and the next to go will most likely be Kane and Toews. The Hawks want to lose games and having Kane calibre of offense definitely doesn't help with that.
A team will definitely need to have the Blackhawks retain salary if they want to take on this contract, or will need to wait until the offseason where they can sign him in free agency, but according to NHL Inside Elliotte Friedman, there is a definite favourite to land his services:
Friedman on 32TP talking possible Patrick Kane destinations: "I do believe that is, until proven otherwise, I think the Rangers are the most likely destination although there are a lot of variables there". NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) October 11, 2022
Imagine seeing Panarin and Kane back together?
