When the Lightning lost in game 6 to the Colorado Avalanche, not only did the Lightning lose the chance at a three-peat, Pat Maroon lost his chance at getting 4 straight stanley cup rings.

Maroon made a statement that his team was significantly injured, we already know about injuries to the Colorado Avalanche players like Burakovsky, Nichushkin and of course Kadri, but we have yet to hear about the Tampa injuries, but according to a few insiders, there are plenty. Maroon said:

When the injury report comes out, you guys are going to be shocked.

Listening to Maroon talk in this is tough, you can hear the emotion in his voice, especially when he talks about how hard his team battled and what some players battled through to get this chance again.

Maroon is 34 and his style of hockey is becoming extinct in the NHL, you have to wonder if part of his emotion is knowing that this may have been his final shot. Long gone are the days of Maroon putting up 27 goals in a season, but he is still signed for 2 more years on a stacked Lightning lineup which still has some of the best forwards, best defenceman and definitely the best goaltender in the league, like Cooper said in his exit interview, the Lightning will be back.
