Knowing the Blackhawks weren't a playoff team, the Blackhawks would try to accommodate Fleury's wishes to go to a playoff team in a trade. Fleury apparently turned down two trade offers from the Edmonton Oilers and Washington Capitals before eventually going to Minnesota.
Fleury would end up in Minnesota at the trade deadline and was an instant fan favorite among his teammates and fans of Minnesota. Unfortunately the Wilds Playoffs ended in the first round at the hand of the St Louis Blues. At 37 and being a pending UFA many wondered where Fleury would end up next season.
Hockey Insider Darren Dreger revealed the Minnesota Wild and General Manager Bill Guerin are hoping to re-sign Fleury in Minnesota. Dreger would share contract talks haven't begun yet but are expecting to soon.
With Free Agency fast approaching and the draft approaching faster, the Wild better lock up Fleury quick if they want to keep him or else desperate teams are going to start making offers.
