While we all want to play hockey forever, sometimes you need to know when to hang up the skates. Over the years we have seen some players be forced into retirement early due to injury issues and this is another one of those cases unfortunately.

Head injuries are serious, especially when you've had more than one. Jakub Voracek suffered a head injury early this season after playing in only 11 games on November 5th and has been out of the lineup ever since.

This is not the first head injury of Voracek's career and his General Manager is now more worried about what his life is going to be like after hockey, more than him being able to return to the Blue Jackets.

#Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen says that Jakub Voracek could be facing an early retirement after suffering another concussion, one of many in his career.

Kekalainen says that he is "more worried about [Voracek] having a normal life," than he is him returning to play.

Voracek, 33, has played just 11 games this season, recording one goal and six points.

Voracek has played in 1058 games and has had quite a few concussions. If the doctors are this concerned with his health, there is definitely some worry about his health post-hockey.

Voracek has had one hell of a career, and while he may not have ever won a Stanley Cup, if this is indeed the end, he has nothing to be ashamed of. This is not the way any hockey player wants to go out, but he can retire knowing he was an elite hockey player and everyone enjoyed seeing him play.
