Cam Fowler wasted little time quieting the crowd in Chicago with the Winter Classic barely underway.
More than 40,000 rowdy Chicago Blackhawks fans filled Wrigley Field, creating an electric atmosphere, only for the St. Louis Blues' veteran defenseman to take the air right out of the building in a heartbeat.
Cam Fowler scored just 1:40 into the game to make it his 1,000th NHL appearance count for something, as the opening goal.
Adding insult to injury for the Blackhawks faithful, Fowler scored his second not long thereafter, and Chicago captain Nick Foligno was visibly not happy.
Nick Foligno took matters into his own hands, dropping the gloves with Blues captain Brayden Schenn at center ice and engaging in a spirited fight that finally gave Blackhawks fans something to cheer in an otherwise one-sided affair.

Interestingly, Brayden Schenn would later admit it was he who suggested the bout, not Foligno. While the Blackhawks were down 5-1 late in the second period, most would have assumed Foligno started the fight as a way to spark his team.
However, Schenn said he offered it up, and his reasoning for doing so added a bit of comedic flair to the Winter Classic showdown.
Following the game, Taylor Hall didn't hold back his words, as he shared his frustration and disappointment with how his team came out to play.
The Blackhawks will hope to rebound during their next game, and they can possibly use Taylor Hall's comments as motivation to right the ship.
