Nico Sturm was a name to keep an eye on at the 2025 trade deadline, and now, the Sharks veteran has landed with the defending Champion Florida Panthers.

The Florida Panthers have already been aggressive at the 2025 deadline, acquiring both Vitek Vanacek and Seth Jones already, and now, they've added some veteran depth up the middle.
According to Frank Seravalli, the Panthers are giving up a fourth-round pick in next years draft to acquire 29-year old veteran Nico Sturm and a 2027 seventh-round pick in a major upgrade for their bottom-six.
The deal sends the former Stanley Cup Champion to the current defending Champions, with the Panthers once again giving up very little to upgrade their team at the deadline.
In 47 games this year, Sturm has 6 goals and 7 assists while primarily playing in the teams bottom six with very little talent around him, but with his two way game making him perfect for the rigours of the post-season, he's the perfect fit for Florida.
Last year, the team added Vladimir Tarasenko and Kyle Okposo, and this year they've arguably upgraded more, adding Vanacek, Jones and Sturm to a lineup that's already been absolutely dominant for much of the 2024/25 season.
With Matthew Tkachuk out, the team have had to be aggressive in adding to the team, and if No. 19 can make his way back onto the roster for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there's very little reason why this team can't make it back to their third straight Finals appearance this year.
The deadline isn't until Friday at 3PM ET however, so there's still plenty of time for the Panthers to continue upgrading, and given the assets at their disposal, don't be shocked to see another similar deal like this one before the deadline.
