Patrick Kane has been the biggest trade name out there this season and the rumour for the last few weeks was that he wanted to go to the Toronto Maple Leafs or the New York Rangers.
The problem is, both of those teams took a big swing already, both making a trade with the St. Louis Blues.
The Rangers made a trade for elite scorer
Vladimir Tarasenko and the Toronto Maple Leafs brought in Selke winner Ryan O'Reilly.
Kane was not happy with the Rangers bringing in Tarasenko as that was apparently his first choice of a trade destination, and with the Maple Leafs being his apparent second choice, their trade must have upset him as well.
Last night the Blackhawks played the Maple Leafs, and Kane put on a show in their big win, scoring 3 goals and 4 points.
The Maple Leafs still do have the assets and cap space to make a big trade to bring in Kane, especially after watching him dominant the Leafs last night, but after the game, Kane made a comment that will break the hearts of Leafs fans:
Patrick Kane on whether he felt he was a Leafs trade match: "I don't think there's really, at least that I know of, much discussion of that being an option. There's a lot of different reports out there, and not all of them are true. So, gotta be careful what you listen to."
