If this was 2015, Phil Kessel would never have been a free agent for this long. The former 90 point scorer spent a few rough seasons in Arizona, but even a ''rough season'' Kessel still managed 52 points on an offensively challenged team.

It was rumoured for weeks that Kessel was going to be signing with the Edmonton Oilers, but that deal has apparently fallen through, and now he is discussing a contract with a new Western Conference team.

The Calgary Flames General Manager Brad TreLiving hasn't seemed to have anytime off this offseason. Moving out arguably their three best players in Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Sean Monahan and bringing in Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, and most recently Nazem Kadri, the Flames will have a new identify this upcoming season.

The Flames are set down the middle with: Elias Lindholm, Kadri, and Mikael Backlund. However the Flames got bit in the playoffs by not scoring enough so the Flames could be looking at improving this more by acquiring the NHL's resident Ironman Phil 'the thrill' Kessel.

Eric Francis of Sportsnet believes the Flames and Kessel could be working out a deal rather shortly to bring Kessel and his Hotdogs to Calgary.
