Thousands of screaming fans yelling at you for an entire game and it just seems like a job that would depress anyone. It would be hard for me to wake up in the morning and be excited to go to work.
While not everyone sees everything that is happening, and sometimes referee's are focused on something else and miss some actions, last night was a case of a being directly infront of a blatant penalty and deciding not to call anything.
If you watch in this video, Mikhail Sergachev gets away with sucker-punching Connor Garland.

This was a definite penalty and would not surprise me if a suspension or fine came from it.
Fans though are definitely starting to have enough of the poor refereeing this season:
That's gotta be a suspension for both the player and the official michael rybczyk (@GGP321) January 13, 2023

Goes back to what I've been saying for years, NHL refs constantly shy away from making the call when it'll lead to a 5 on 3, and even moreso when it's late in the game. Shouldn't be like that, but it is.
We absolutely should have been called for a penalty there, no defending it. Shaun of the Dead(LIGHTNING SZN ⚡⚡) (@jones_shaun) January 13, 2023
