Reporter Reveals Weird Clause in Sidney Crosby's Next Contract
Sidney Crosby is one of those athletes who are superstitious, and we have definite proof.
Weird Clause in Crosby's Next Contract
According to Penguins Hockey Now, it looks like the number 87 will be in the contract.
It may be that he's paid $87 an hour, or 87 cents a second, or he'll sign a deal with a bonus of $87, or an 8.7M AAV contract. It could be anything, really, but it will have 87 in it somewhere.
"While precisely how many seasons Crosby's next contract will cover is hard to say, there's not much mystery about the money that will be involved. It's pretty much a lock to be based on some permutation of '87,' whether it's the third in a series of contracts with an $8.7 million salary-cap hit, a deal that pays him $87 an hour or one that's worth 87 cents per second."
Crosby's Future
Crosby, 36 years old, has two years left on his contract.
He'll probably continue to play when it expires, and nothing indicates that he would play anywhere other than Pittsburgh.
An athlete like him could very well end up playing in the NHL after 40 years old, but it would be surprising to see him sign a contract for four seasons or more.
