Ryan Reaves Delivers Dirty Hit On 19-Year-Old Rookie
Everyone in the NHL knows who Ryan Reaves is and what kind of style of hockey he plays. Tonight he was playing his typical game when the referee determined he had crossed a line so the 36-year-old was sent to the box for 2 minutes.
Reaves Boards Bruins Rookie
The call on the ice was boarding. By rule, the call is correct. The player was clearly showing his numbers to the ice as he faced the boards. While Reaves slowed up significantly before making contact, he still went through with the hit, resulting in the boarding call.
The victim of the hit was 19-year-old Bruins rookie Matthew Poitras. Poitras has been a welcome addition to the Bruins this year as they lost a lot of forward depth in the offseason. He has 11 points through 22 games so far this season. Another look at the play.
The Leafs and Bruins are currently tied at 2 halfway through the 3rd period.
