Tomorrow night the Washington Capitals will host the Florida Panthers in game 6 of their series, with the Panthers leading 3-2. Game 5 looked like it was going to be an easy win for the Capitals after taking a 3-0 lead, just to see it diminish to the Panthers and end up losing 5-3.
Tom Wilson has not played since the first game of the series where he scored a goal and left the game after attempting to deliver a hit.
The good news is though, a reader of Russian Machine Never Breaks Russ Gathright saw Tom Wilson skating today at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
I was just at MedStar going through the team store and saw Wilson flying around on the ice around 2:40 PM. He was looking good. I just happened to be in the store. It was just him and it looked like a trainer on the bench talking to him. He was wearing a white jersey.
I was told I wasn't allowed to take pics because they wanted to keep his skate secret. I have a feeling he will be out there for the morning skate tomorrow. He was skating really well.
While this doesn't guarantee that Wilson will be in the lineup for Friday's game, it does give Capitals fans some hope that he might return.
On average there has been 100 hits between the two teams per game, so hitting has definitely not been lacking without Wilson in the lineup, but Wilson's presence alone makes the opposing teams panic, and that is something that has been missing this series.
