Allan Walsh has never been one to shy away from criticism of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and today is no different. After Brad Marchand and other players began to take a stand against the leagues handling of the Olympic situation, Allan Walsh added the following.
"Feels like the @NHL is frantically sticking gum in each hole of a sinking canoe to keep it afloat. It's obvious there's no plan, just knee jerk reactions to the latest news. This cost players the Olympics while Gary is grinning like a Cheshire Cat over that one."
The idea has been continually shared that the NHL never intended to attend the Olympics and built the out clause into their CBA for this reason.
Walsh has took the time to reply to a fan who disagreed with the idea of loaning players to Olympic teams.
For one 3 week period every 4 years? You ever try demanding a ticket refund from an NHL club when a top player is out 4-6 weeks?
The Olympics continue to be a hot button topic that could push for the NHL players to push for legitimate change going forward even within their own Players Association.
