The Anahiem Ducks seem to be willing to take some chances in order to re-sign key players to a bargain contract. Right now, a former first round pick of the team is practicing elsewhere while preseason games take place as he has yet to be signed to a new deal.
First-Rounder
Jamie Drysdale, selected sixth overall in 2020, is currently skating with the Toronto Metropolitan University Men's Hockey Team.
Entry-level
Drysdale, a defenceman, finished his three-year entry level contract with the Ducks last season and has yet to sign a new deal. The Ducks are also negotiating with future potential star Trevor Zegras. Having both sit out during the regular season would be an awful look for Anaheim and could serve as a detriment to their development.

Mum's The Word
As it stands right now, Anaheim and Drysdale have little to nothing to say about how negotiations are going. Drysdale seems content to stay with TMU as long as it takes.
