It was a very tough game for the Carolina Hurricanes and their fans last night in Denver as they lost both their starting goalie and captain to injury.

Jordan Staal was rocked by Avalanche defenceman Cale Makar who left the game looking to be in a great deal of pain. Things got worse for the Carolina Hurricanes when their goaltender Freddy Andersen appeared tweak his knee making a save.

Andersen was in the butterfly then fell to the ice in pain and needed to be helped off. Today the Carolina Hurricanes revealed goalie Frederik Andersen will undergo an MRI after exiting Saturday's loss to the Colorado Avalanche with an apparent lower-body injury, The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported Sunday.

Both the team and their goaltender Freddy Andersen are waiting for the results of the tests. Andersen has had previously knee issues during his time in Toronto as a member of the Maple Leafs which gave Jack Campbell the opportunity to take over as the teams #1 goalie and ended Andersen's time in Toronto.

This ended up being a blessing for Andersen though as he signed with the Hurricanes and put up the best season of his career statistically. Let's hope that he is healthy and ready to go for the playoffs and the Hurricanes are a real contender this season.
