After coming so close to the Stanley cup finals last season, there was so much hope and expectations this season for the Vegas Golden Knights. Many believed this team would take the next step and possibly go all the way this year.

The Vegas hype train picked up even more after the Golden Knights acquired Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel after a fall out because of the surgery Jack wanted. Many of the hockey insiders believed the Golden Knights became instant cup contenders with the addition of Eichel. However Jack Eichel hasn't been been the impact player they were hoping yet when they traded Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs and a 1st round pick, only producing 21 points in 30 games.

For the first time in franchise history the Golden Knights are fighting for their playoff lives. Right now the Golden Knights are 4th in the Pacific division but have the Vancouver Canucks right on their tale. However they were dealt a blow today as head coach Peter DeBoer announced Goaltender Robin Lehner is done for the season due to needing major surgery needed to repair his knee

This is crushing news if your a Golden Knights fan, even if they do make the playoffs, everyone knows you need good goaltending. The Knights had to trade Marc Andre Fleury this past off season due to cap issues and didn't add anything at the trade deadline, a move that looks like its going to bite them in the a**.
