Next February, the long-awaited NHL 4-Nations Face-Off will take place in Montreal and Boston, marking the return of best-on-best competition.
With NHL players unable to represent their countries in the Olympics in recent years, hockey fans have been eager to watch the best players in the world play against each other.
Hype is through the roof for that tournament, eclipsing another major championship set to take place in 2025: the Spengler Cup.
The Spengler Cup is the second-oldest international hockey competition after the Stanley Cup, and while we don't see as many high-profile players taking part in that tournament, countries always try to present the best possible rosters.
While no players have been announced yet, insider Pierre LeBrun made a massive revelation, saying that it sounds like Gerard Gallant will be named the official head coach of Team Canada.
He also mentioned that Joe Thornton and Brad Pascall will be managing the team, even though nothing has been confirmed by the organization yet:
Gerard Gallant's name has been circulating in NHL rumors for a while. In the past weeks, he's been linked with the Montreal Canadiens, and even if Kent Hughes debunked that rumor, many fans would like to see him assist Martin St. Louis.
If he were to have a successful Spengler Cup run, Gallant could put himself in a great position to generate interest in the NHL once again.
The coach hasn't appeared behind an NHL bench since the 2022-23 season, where he led the New York Rangers to the playoffs but fell in the first round after an Eastern Conference Finals run in the previous season.
Stay tuned for updates related to Team Canada, the Spengler Cup, and the NHL 4-Nations Face-Off!
