Frank Seravalli proposes a blockbuster trade between Chicago and Toronto
NHL insider Frank Seravalli has proposed a monster one-for-one swap between the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs involving two stars: Mitch Marner and Seth Jones.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli is among the best at breaking trades and general NHL news. Seravalli recently spoke on Mitch Marner and the teams that he thinks could be a good fit for the Leafs winger.
He proposed a monster one-for-one trade between the Blackhawks and the Leafs.
Seravalli: One team that makes a ton of sense for me for Mitch Marner, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Host: What are the Blackhawks sending back to Toronto?
Seravalli: Does Seth Jones interest you at all? Straight up Marner for Jones, who says no?
Marner has one year left on his contract while Jones has six years left on his. Many believe that Jones is overpaid by the Blackhawks making $9,500,000 per year but if the Blackhawks were to retain a bit on his contract, a swap with the Leafs for Marner could certainly work.
Seravalli commented on Jones' contract and said retention may not be necessary.
"I think, regardless of whatever you think of the contract, he's still a number one defenseman and he's way better than anything else they've got. And technically cap wise you would be saving almost 2 million bucks." - Frank Seravalli
A Jones for Marner Swap would get the Leafs an elite defenseman alongside Morgan Rielly and save them money so it could certainly be a trade that goes down.
