Last night Carson Soucy cross-checked Connor McDavid in the face and now the NHL Department of Player Safety has announced his suspension.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs tend to bring nasty play from most players around the NHL. Last night after the game was over, Connor McDavid got back-to-back cross-checks from Nikita Zadorov and Carson Soucy that were clearly quite dirty.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced its first fine of the playoffs for Nikita Zadorov and also announced a hearing for Carson Soucy.

Vancouver's Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid.

Vancouver's Carson Soucy will have a hearing for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid. Date and time TBD.

Just now, they announced that Soucy would be suspended for his cross-check on McDavid.

Vancouver's Carson Soucy has been suspended for one playoff game for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid.

Given the nature of Soucy's cross-check and it being after the game was over, it makes sense why he received the suspension he did.

Up 2-1 in the series, the Canucks will have to win a few more games if they want to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
