The city decided to spend taxpayer money on a billboard along the highway in Sunrise Florida, home of the Panthers. On it, they placed an ad enticing south Floridians to travel to the northern city. They way they did so was absolutely hilarious.
Needless to say, fans were shocked and thrilled at the same time. You probably wouldn't find a single person in Edmonton that is upset about this use of the city's money.
Of course, the Panthers have kind of brought this upon themselves. After all, they were up 3-0 in the series. Then they lost game four, no big deal right? Then all the sudden they lose games five and six, and here we are. If they won even one of those games, Edmonton never would have even had a chance to put up this ad. The city is not the only Canadian entity getting in the spirit for the winner-take-all game. Boston Pizza has agreed to give away 30,000 free pizzas Monday night if the Oilers break the 30-year cup drought for Canadian teams.
Right now, the Oilers somehow seem to be the favorites to win the Stanley Cup after they were down three games to none. The tables have certainly been flipped, making it one of the most entertaining Cup finals in recent history. Game seven figures to be an all-time classic, so be sure to tune in tomorrow now night.
