The team is preparing for game six of the Stanley Cup finals after they beat the Panthers in Florida during game four. They have already had a historic series after going down 3-0, becoming just one of a couple of teams to even force a game six. Should they force a game seven, they could find themselves lifting the Stanley Cup in the most unlikely way possible. However, their routine was thrown off a bit this morning as they could not skate on the regular ice at Rodgers Place die to Snoop Dog's concert.
One potential piece to the Oilers success in this series is Evander Kane. The 32-year-old last played in game two of the finals where he left early with an injury. So far he is a -4 and has 0 shots on goal in the series. However, the Oilers as a whole were routed in the first two games of the series, so that is not entirely unsurprising. He did return to practice this morning, but was skating with the healthy extras, so it is not clear if he is good to go for game six.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch was understandably careful about what he said about Kane after practice. He clearly does not want to tip his hand to Paul Maurice and the Florida Panthers, which is standard procedure for NHL coaches. He would not confirm Kane's status ahead of the game.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow night as we could potentially witness a historic game between the Panthers and Oilers.
