The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to even their series against the Rangers tonight after dropping game one 4-3. Early in the game tempers faired though after Andrei Svechnikov tripped Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin with a can opener move behind the net.

The play came a little more than halfway through the first period when Shesterkin came out of the net to play the puck. Svechnikov did not make an effort to get around him. In fact, he appeared to intentionally position his stick to interfere with the goalie.
