could be looking to make a massive trade with one of their Atlantic Division rivals to land the talented young center.

Since replacing Derek Lalonde by Todd McLellan as the team's head coach, the Red Wings have been having a lot of success on the ice.

Currently holding on to the 2nd wild card spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with 61 point, and only one point behind the Ottawa Senators, the Detroit Red Wings could be among those teams looking to bolster their lineup before the trade deadline.

For the first time since 2016, the Red Wings could make it to the playoffs, but could use all the help they can get from the team's general manager Steve Yzerman going into the final stretch of the season.

According to a new report, the Red Wings could be tempted to go after Dylan Cozens, the 24-year-old center playing with the Buffalo Sabres:

"Cozens, who turned 24 this past Sunday, would fill the Red Wings' troublesome second-line center spot with his skills and offensive upside. At least they hope he would.

That's what they signed Andrew Copp for in 2022 (five years at an average annual value of $5.625 million). The following summer they signed J.T. Compher (five years, $5.1 million), hoping he'd provide the offense Copp hasn't."

Once again this season, the Sabres aren't going anywhere this season. Cozens, 24, has been involved in many trade rumors recently, and could change teams before the trade deadline.

However, the Red Wings aren't the only team interested. The Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and even the Colorado Avalanche could be trying to acquire the 6-foot-4 center.

In the end, the team to make the best offer to the Sabres will get him. If the Red Wings want him, they will need to pay the price.
