The Colorado Avalanche Have Expressed Interest In Top Chicago Blackhawks Defenseman
The Denver Gazette has recently reported that the Colorado Avalanche have a very high interest in one of the Chicago Blackhawks' top defensemen.
It's Friday, and with January coming to a close, trade chatter is picking up around the NHL. As has been said many times before, it's a seller's market this season, with playoff pushes in both conferences looking like absolute mayhem.
Add in the looming two-week February hiatus for the 4 Nations Face-Off, and the trade chatter is percolating to the surface.
Seth Jones could be on the move from the Blackhawks
It's surprising to see where Seth Jones lands on the trade boards, from No. 10 at 'The Athletic' to No. 11 at TSN.
It's curious given it's the first time he ever has been ranked this way, and his massive cap hit makes him a tricky in-season move even to a team he'd be willing to waive his no-move clause to play for.
Meanwhile, 'Daily Faceoff' didn't have him in their top 30 whatsoever. For now, however, it seems like the Colorado Avalanche have actual interest in Jones.
The Chicago Blackhawks aren't believed to be shopping the veteran right-shot defenseman, but it hasn't kept other teams from calling. Jones carries a sizeable cap hit for a lot of years, but he's got a skillset that's in short supply around the league. Jones is an all-around defender who can log major minutes and handle a shutdown role. He also holds a no-movement clause but may be enticed to waive it with Chicago still likely years away from completing its rebuild.

As the trade deadline nears, fans and experts will be keeping their eyes peeled on a possible Seth Jones move.
