Brady Tkachuk was as honest as can be on the latest episode of Spittin' Chiclets, where he called out the Vancouver Canucks organization, saying they were shady.

Team USA's 4 Nations Face-Off ended with a 3-2 overtime setback against Canada. The bigger issue at hand, however, involves Quinn Hughes, why specifically wasn't he playing during the times that mattered the most?

With Charlie McAvoy injured, Hughes had been a leading contender to take the spot and at times it seemed they might put him on the roster. This never transpired.

Brady Tkachuk spoke on 'Spittin' Chiclets' and said that Hughes had been desperate and willing to play, yet the Vancouver Canucks never approved it.

Was it a standard move protecting their top defensive player, or did they play a sinister motive behind it? Tkachuk feels it was the latter, calling it shady business.

"I actually FaceTimed Quinn when he was figuring it out," Tkachuk said. "I think he was all about coming, but I just don't think he got cleared by Vancouver to play." Then he added a line that has sparked plenty of debate: "Little shady business to begin with."

The turning point for the U.S. could have been not having Hughes

Hughes' absence had been a devastating blow for the US squad against Canada and it had been speculated that it could have been the turning point. Other teams within the NHL also released players of their own to play, yet the Canucks didn't.

Discussions about inserting Hughes had been floating with the injury of McAvoy, yet the speculation didn't really stop until the very end.

Whether it be conservative management or a franchise mentality, both options had a lot of individuals speculating regarding what might've and could've been done differently.
