Withreports flying around about the potential future of current Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson, we now have shocking news regarding top goalie prospect Damian Clara as well.
This evening news has come in that Swedish Hockey League club Farjestad has decided to terminate Clara's contract in the middle of the season making him a free agent.
The 20-year-old was having an okay season in Sweden with a 9-10-0 record and an 879 SV% in those 19 appearances.
However, it seems that those numbers were not good enough for the Italian netminder to stick around and he will now have to find a new home for the rest of the season.
After being selected 60th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft the Ducks had high hopes for Clara to become the latest player from Italy to join the NHL ranks.
Unfortunately so far during his professional career since being drafted Clara has struggled to find a permanent home team to develop while playing for several organizations in Sweden.
With his latest departure, it will now be up to the Anaheim Ducks organization and Clara's representation to find him a new home as soon as possible.
Beyond trying to develop into an NHL player Clara is also preparing to potentially be one of the goaltenders for the Italian National Team when the Olympic Games head to Milano Cortina.
Despite his early career struggles and inconsistency Clara is still just 20 years old and has plenty of runway to develop into an impactful NHLer and potential Olympian over the next several years.
