NHL writer Ty Anderson of NBC Sports Boston has just broken the news that Bruins forward Brad Marchand played all of last season with an elbow injury, and then towards the end of the regular season suffered an additional two injuries to his groin and abdomen.
Brad Marchand underwent three surgeries over the off-season to address all three injuries.
Fans were quick to wonder whether Brad Marchand would be healthy enough to return in time for the start of the season in a few weeks.
It does appear that Brad Marchand will be able to start the season in time, which is a huge relief to Bruins fans and the team.
The 71st overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins had a great season for the team last year despite these injuries. What makes it even more impressive is that he was able to suit up for the team's entire 82 games, refusing to take a single game off. What a warrior. In those games, Brad Marchand scored 29 goals and added 38 assists, for 67 points.
With the season underway in just a matter of weeks now, fans will be keeping an eye out on Brad Marchand to see if these surgeries give him even more pep in his skate to perform at the highest level.
