Brett Pesce officially left the Carolina Hurricanes this summer to move to New Jersey, and apparently, it caused quite the rift within his family.

This off-season was a chaotic one for fans of the NHL, as we saw many trades and free agent moves that shocked the hockey world and potentially changed the landscape of the league. Now, Devils defenseman Brett Pesce has detailed a rift in his family that was caused by his own free agency move, as he reveals that his father tweeted that he would miss Carolina, just hours after the teams final game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

This led to Pesce asking his dad about what happened, and according to the 29-year old, the pair wouldn't speak after their chat for a week, although things appear to be much better at this point. It's unclear exactly why a miscommunication happened within the family for this to be tweeted out, but ultimately Pesce now plays an hour from his home town, something that will delight him and his family moving forward.

Things appear to be fine after everything happened, with Pesce surveying the landscape of free agency before choosing New Jersey, and now will set his sights on a Stanley Cup with a team he potentially grew up idolizing.
