The Carolina Hurricanes have officially terminated the contract of Russian forward Alexander Pashin in the midst of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Today the Carolina Hurricanes announced that they have terminated the contract of Russian forward Alexander Pashin.

The #Canes have placed 2020 seventh round draft pick Alexander Pashin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

The 21-year-old played the entire 2023-24 season in the KHL.

Pashin was a late-round swing by the Hurricanes and came over to North America in 2022-23 to play with the Chicago Wolves. After the Hurricanes' partnership with the Wolves fell apart this past year Pashin headed back to Russia to play with Spartak Moskova of the KHL.

Pashin reportedly signed an extension with Spartak in the KHL and will pursue his professional career in his homeland.

UPDATE: Pashin is reportedly signing a 3 year deal with Spartak

Only time will tell if Pashin is ever to make the NHL but given the current outlook, the odds seem slim.
