Shocking update on the Jesperi Kotkaniemi buyout situation
Today Elliotte Friedman went around the NHL and covered a wide range of topics including the potential buyout of Jesperi Kotkaniemi by the Carolina Hurricanes this summer.
It is no secret that Jesperi Kotkaniemi has struggled to live up to the contract he was given by the Carolina Hurricanes. With the Hurricanes up against the salary cap for next season, many expected Jesperi Kotkaniemi to be a buyout candidate. However, Elliotte Friedman believes that the Hurricanes are not interested in a buyout.

Despite not being bought out there is still the possibility that Jesperi Kotkaniemi has a new home next season. Elliotte Friedman confirms that several teams will likely have an interest in trading for Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Martin Necas this summer.
