Skyler Brind'Amour, son of longtime NHL center Rod Brind'amour, is rumored to be leaving the Charlotte Checkers to sign an NHL deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, where Rod is currently coaching.
The younger Brind'Amour, who finished his college career at Quinnipiac this past season, signed a two-year AHL contract with the Charlotte Checkers after not receiving an offer from the team that drafted him, that being the Edmonton Oilers back in 2017. In 54 games for the Checkers, he had 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points while also chipping in 1 assist in 3 playoff games.
In his career at Quinnipiac, Skyler amassed 76 points in 145 games while being most known as a grinder and physical presence on the ice. He also won the NCAA National Championship with Quinnipiac in his senior season in 2023.
His father, longtime Carolina Hurricanes centerman and captain Rod Brind'amour, is the current head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. Rod took over the Hurricanes in the 2018/19 season and has since led the Hurricanes to a 278-130-44 record while also reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice in his tenure.
