Players who play in Russia's KHL are known to be strong and tough, but one of their players sadly went head-first into the boards and got stretchered off.

Hockey is a seriously fast and dangerous sport on every level of the ice. The high speed of the game constantly places the players in danger of suffering from serious injury. Just now during one KHL game, there was this terrifying moment when Gleb Kuzmin went headfirst into the boards.

Details about the 27-year-old's condition were not immediately available, but the incident sent fans in attendance into a state of shock in what had been a closely contested matchup. Coach Darren Dietz did extend his well-wishes to Kuzmin after the game, hoping he gets better soon and returns to the ice, echoing what many feel.

An originally innocuous battle for the puck turned ugly in a hurry. When players are competing at this level, sometimes it takes barely any contact at all to create a serious situation like this. We will be sure to update you as more information on Kuzmin's condition becomes available, but until then, hopes are with Greg Kuzmin that he is recovering well from this unfortunate and scary incident.
