Connor Bedard Comments On His Injury For The First Time
Connor Bedard has just commented on his jaw injury that kept him from playing for the first time after he returned to the lineup last night.
Bedard Knew Right Away His Jaw Was Broken After Hit That Kept Him From Play
Connor Bedard is set to be one of the greats in the NHL if he continues on the trajectory he is on. Unfortunately, the nature of the game of hockey is a physical one and that means injuries are nearly inevitable. For Bedard, he suffered his first major one in his first season.
Last night, after returning to the lineup, Bedard commented for the first time on his jaw injury, stating that he knew it was broken almost immediately, but still had that urge to play.
Connor Bedard on the moment his jaw broke on Jan. 5:
"It was just weird. My face was numb and my bite was off. They told me it was broken, I guess, and I just thought of Chara going back into the bubble, so I didn't think too much of it. But obviously, it's not Game 7 of the Cup Final, so you've got to wait and let it heal. It sucked."
The fight in this kid is something else. His first thought was to keep playing even through a broken jaw.
Bedard Has some Fun In Post Game Interview After First Game Back
Connor Bedard had some fun in the post-game interview in his first game back. When he was asked if he had any trepidation about getting hit, Bedard laughed and said he didn't know what that word meant.
We figured out the flaw in Connor Bedard's game. #trepidation
Bedard tallied an assist in his first game back in the lineup, despite the Blackhawks losing. They are surely happy to see him return to the game and help them right the ship in the second half of the season.
