Last season, Connor Bedard took the NHL by storm, and now, the overwhelming expectation is that the Blackhawks forward will take another step towards stardom in 2024/25. That has seemingly already begun, as he was recently given a new role ahead of the new season, and now he's answered plenty of questions about that and other things in a recent interview with Jackie Redmond.
However, it was one question in particular that stood out during this media session, with Bedard asked who his dream linemate in the NHL would be. While he hesitated and mentioned names such as Canadian icons Sidney Crosby and Brad Marchand, Bedard ultimately went with fast skating Islanders forward Mat Barzal.
According to Barzal, the two skated together for the first time when Barzal was 20 and Bedard was just 12 years of age, with the young kid looking awkward at first before wowing a crowd of NHLers on the ice.
It's clear that the friendship has only grown since that point, and during the All-Star festivities, that was on display once more and Bedard was chosen as Barzal's passer during the one-timer challenge.
It's highly unlikely that the two will play on a line together in the near future, but with both having so much speed and talent, it would be a nightmare for opposing teams to play against, but given their friendship and chemistry, it's something that both will no doubt look to accomplish.
