Connor Bedard is seen as the future captain in Chicago, but now legend Jeremy Roenick has called him out after an interaction at the Winter Classic.

The latest version of the NHL's Winter Classic took place on New Year's Eve at the home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field as the Chicago Blackhawks took on the St. Louis Blues.

It was ultimately a one-sided affair with the Blues coming away winners 6-2, but now, we do have some major drama coming out of the event involving young Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard.

After a fairly disappointing event, things have gotten worse, with franchise legend Jeremy Roenick calling out the 19-year-old for snubbing him at the event, noting that he was the only current player not to greet him and other legends.

All the players came up to me, [Chelios], and [Savard], except one, Roenick said. That was Connor Bedard If we don't have that respect to go up and fist bump, to say congratulations, how can you do it with your teammates?

That wasn't all, however, as he went on to call out his leadership abilities, stating that he's got a lot to work on before he can become the captain of the iconic Original Six franchise.

I'm not ripping on him in terms of his personality or anything like that. If he's going to be the captain of this team, there are a lot of things that he has to think about in terms of being that leader, being that captain, and unfortunately he dropped the ball.

It's unclear exactly why Roenick has taken such a strong stance against a 19-year old, who was playing on the huge stage of a Winter Classic for the first time in his career, meaning that he was likely as focused as possible on the situation at hand.

Ultimately though, this is another chance for Bedard to show his class, as he can certainly handle this by ignoring the negative attention, but given his name power in the NHL, it's safe to say that this is something he'll need to get used to.
