This summer is going to be a huge one for the Chicago Blackhawks, with the team reportedly set to chase a big name such as Mikko Rantanen or Mitch Marner on the open market.
Now it's been revealed by The Athletic that they've got other options as well, as they have name-dropped three intriguing RFA's that the team could hand an offer sheet to.
Those three players are Wyatt Johnston, Marco Rossi, and Matthew Knies, all of whom represent key pieces of the future for their respective teams, but with salary cap squeezes for all three, there's a chance that they could be had for the right price.
All three are likely to be extended by their teams at some point, but with extensions for Mitch Marner and Kirill Kaprizov in Toronto and Minnesota upcoming shortly, it's a good opportunity for the Blackhawks to take advantage.
At this point in time, the Blackhawks have Connor Bedard and Artyom Levshunov who are certainly key pieces of the rebuild for this team, but beyond that, they certainly have question marks all over the roster.
Up front for Chicago, the team doesn't have any elite-level talent beyond Bedard, and with upwards of $27 million in salary cap space before the cap potentially goes up, they could even look to land more than one of these three names.
Ultimately, the rebuild for Chicago has been poor thus far beyond Bedard, so this allows GM Kyle Davidson to bring in some more elite-level talent, with all three under 24 years of age, so keep a close eye on Chicago to be a big spender in the summer.
