Kim Weiss is on her way to Colorado, getting closer and closer to her goal of one day being an NHL coach. For now, she will have to settle for the AHL's Colorado Eagles as she will be their new video coach next season.
Weiss became the first-ever female coach in NCAA Division III history when she was hired by Trinity College last season.
35-year-old Weiss started her professional career by playing in the 2010-11 season with Trinity College. She later spent two seasons as an assistant coach in the NAHL, and then became an associate head coach with the Maryland Black Bears.
Weiss went back to where it all began for her over a decade later, as she went to coach for Trinity College, where it was at that moment that she became the first-ever female to have a position of that calibre in that league.
Jessica Campbell is set to make history next season in the NHL, as she will be the first-ever woman to step behind the bench of an NHL club with the Seattle Kraken. Weiss no doubt is looking up to Campbell for inspiration as she one day hopes to follow in those same shoes.
We wish Kim Weiss and Jessica Campbell the best of luck in their new roles with the Colorado Eagles and Seattle Kraken.
