The Detroit Red Wings have seen some legends come through the organization, but now one of those in Pavel Datsyuk has turned them down for a major role.

This year, Pavel Datsyuk headlined a star studded class to join the Hockey Hall of Fame, and with his return to the United States to accept the invitation into the Hall, questions have been asked about his hockey future. Now, they have been swiftly answered, as the Red Wings icon has revealed he has little interest in a role with Detroit's front office in the Hockey Operations Department.

«I miss Detroit but now I have a job, I'm a hockey player development back at home,» Datsyuk explained. He prioritizes spending time with his family, stating, «I want to stay with my family, spend more time at home.»

While he was in town, Datsyuk joined future Red Wings stars at development camp, but it's his role in the KHL with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg that he's prioritizing, along with family right now.

With teammate of 187 NHL games in Steve Yzerman at the helm in Detroit, there's still plenty of time for that to change, but for now, don't expect to see another Red Wings icon joining the front office anytime soon.
