The Detroit Red Wings are in a playoff fight for their lives, so the last thing they needed was a health scare ahead of a huge matchup with the Washington Capitals.
On Tuesday, the Detroit Red Wings play the Washington Capitals, a team just one point behind them in the Stanley Cup Playoff race, making it the biggest game of the season for both teams. Unfortunately, it now appears as though Moritz Seider comes into this one with a health scare, as he has caught the illness that's been going around their locker room in recent times.
Seider has the flu bug, Lalonde said. They're hoping to still have him tonight, though
Unsurprisingly, he's going to attempt to fight through and play tonight in a must-win game, and with the Pittsburgh Penguins up later this week, the Red Wings could decide their playoff fate with a pair of crucial wins. To do so, they'll need Seider, who has become a key piece of their lineup, tallying a solid 40 points in 77 games played this season on the blue line. We will know closer to game time just how bad the illness is for Seider, but right now he's going to attempt to tough it out as he looks to show that he can capitalize on all the potential he's shown in his young NHL career.
