With the NHL rumoured to be looking at expansion in the near future, these two cities are reportedly meeting with Gary Bettman as potential options for future franchise locations.

The NHL is one of the fastest growing professional sports leagues right now, actively looking for future expansion cities to add more teams to the League. There have been several rumours of Cities vying for a franchise spot in the NHL, such as Quebec City, Salt Lake City, and others. Now, it appears two more are taking the next steps towards acquiring a team.

Kevin Weekes of ESPN recently revealed that groups from Atlanta and Houston are meeting with the NHL this week to discuss expansion potential to their respective cities.

"👀 I'm told that members of the Tilman Fertitta led Houston group, and the Vernon Krause led Atlanta group are meeting with the @NHL in NYC. #HockeyTwitter #HockeyX" Weekes said in a post on X on Monday afternoon.

Growth for the game is incredible, and with so many cities vying for a team, it begs the question of whether or not some teams should be relocated. A prime example that comes to mind is the Arizona Coyotes, who just announced that they are building a new arena in Phoenix. If that plan fails, though, it's not unlikely that they could be moved to one of the cities that are vying for a franchise.
