Vladimir Tarasenko recently helped the Panthers win the Stanley Cup and was fresh off signing a new deal with the Red Wings. Now, he has to deal with tragedy.
Tarasenko has been living his best life over the last few months, being traded to a contending team from the Ottawa Senators, winning the Stanley Cup, and finally signing a lucrative deal with the Detroit Red Wings. Sadly, things took a turn for the worse earlier today when it was announced that his 56-year-old father, Andrei, had passed away back home in Russia.
HC Sibir has confirmed this. Andrei Tarasenko has passed away. 😢 #RIP 56 years old.
Andrei was a very famous player back in the Russian league, where he played for many years, and then took on a role as a development coach for HC Sibir in 2008, up until his passing. He also participated in the 1994 Winter Olympics.
*EP has him listed as 55 years old. Andrei was twice head coach of Sibir before becoming a Development coach full time since 2012-13 season.
Not only did Vladimir win the Cup with the Panthers, but he also captured it in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues. He no doubt has his father Andrei to thank for where he is today, and he will greatly miss him. Condolences go out to the Tarasenkos.
