Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg signed offer sheets with the St. Louis Blues earlier this offseason and recently Holloway commented on the saga.

Over the past five or so years, the offer sheet has become a more utilized tool in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens sending an offer sheet to Sebastian Aho, the Hurricanes sending an offer sheet to Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and the Blues this offseason sending two offer sheets to the Oilers trying to pry away Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.

The Blues now have the 2019 8th overall pick and the 2020 14th overall pick costing only a second and third-rounder to get the pair. The Blues will now be able to give them both more opportunities and hopefully see them blossom into their full potential.

Recently Dylan Holloway joined the Cam and Strick podcast and commented on the offer sheet he signed. Check it out!

Holloway made it clear that he said that the Blues were ready to send an offer sheet and the Oilers were not changing their offer to Holloway. This allowed him to get paid significantly more than if he were to have signed with the Oilers and in a place with slightly lower taxes in St. Louis.

Holloway, a 22-year-old former first-round pick, has been underutilized in his time in the NHL thus far. He has not gotten as many minutes as he could have gotten in Edmonton resulting in his numbers looking more poor than his actual play suggests. Playing in 38 regular season NHL games last year, Holloway scored six goals and 9 points. However, he stepped up in the playoffs scoring five goals and seven points in 25 games producing at a higher rate with more intensity around him. He will now be getting a fresh start in St. Louis and look to realize his full potential.
