After a full seven days, the Edmonton Oilers deadline to match the St. Louis Blues offer sheets for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg are now here. We heard from Elliotte Friedman over the past week on their plans, and now, in a shock change of heart, they will not only be letting Broberg walk, but Holloway too.
After moving Cody Ceci for a solid return, it made sense that the Oilers were looking to retain one of the players on the way out, but after plenty of speculation, they'll instead take the draft picks they get in return and simply let both players walk. With the goal of a Stanley Cup, it makes sense that Edmonton would like to retain as much flexibility as possible, and with the cap space and the picks they get in return, this gives them more opportunity to make a move during the 2024/25 season.
This news isn't official yet, but over the next few hours we will get an official answer from the team, but at this point, all signs are pointing to both Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg heading to St. Louis for next season and beyond.
