The list of staff hirings and promotions with the hockey operations division of the Pittsburgh Penguins was released on their official NHL website, and there were two notable names present there.
Among the hirings, Chris Roque, who was a scout with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has been poached by his former GM while with the Leafs Kyle Dubas, and Jason Pietrzykowski, who was a scout with the Edmonton Oilers, has also been stolen. Roque has been hired to be an amateur scout for the Penguins, whereas Pietrzykowski will be a professional scout for the team.
NHL insider Chris Johnston provided further details regarding some of the other hires as well.
Chris Roque isn't the first member of the Toronto Maple Leafs that Kyle Dubas has stolen. Fans will remember a month or so ago, Wes Clark was also poached from Toronto and brought over to Pittsburgh by Dubas.
It seems that Kyle Dubas can't get enough of his former Toronto buddies and wants to bring them all over to Pittsburgh with him. And just to add salt in the wound, he went to attack another Canadian team in Edmonton to snatch up one of their staff members too.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the playoffs for two seasons in a row, so Kyle Dubas will need to do whatever he can to get the team back into contention, whether that's making enemies on or off the ice.
