The Edmonton Oilers made the controversial decision to hire Stan Bowman, and now it appears as though the fans are uniting in their opposition of the move.
After weeks of speculation, the Oilers finally announced the hire of controversial Stan Bowman as their new General Manager, and after CEO Jeff Jackson turned his social media private, it's clear to see that the front office expected backlash. It's getting worse now however, as there has been a petition started to get rid of Stan Bowman as GM, with almost 3,000 people already signing it.
Nearly 3.5x the population of the Vatican City 🇻🇦 have signed a petition to get Stan Bowman out of the #Oilers 🇨🇦 organization.
Bowman was the general manager of the #Blackhawks 🇺🇸 in 2010 where it was later revealed a decade later that he was a part of a major cover up during their cup run.
Given Bowman's role in the 2010 controversy involving young Kyle Beach, the league banned he and coach Joel Quenneville from the NHL back in 2021, but now, they have changed their mind, with Bowman immediately hired again. Whether he's moved past this or not, it's simple that many believe he doesn't deserve such a high profile job again, and with Oilers fans clearly taking a stance, it's safe to say that they're not happy at all about the move.
