BREAKING: NHL Coach Goes Crazy And Pulls His Goalie In Overtime
The Minnesota Wild are in search of the playoffs and made a bold decision to pull their goalie in overtime.
Wild Pull Goalie In Overtime: Win In Shocking Fashion
During overtime of today's game between the Minnesota Wild and the Nashville Predators, Wild coach John Hynes pulled one of the boldest strategies by pulling his goaltender during 3-on-3 play.
The Wild took home the victory after a goal from Matt Boldy but it is certainly one of the most bold strategies in the NHL.
And for those asking, if Nashville scored on the empty net, Minnesota would've gotten 0 points in an OTL. There's ballsy, and then there's this. #mnwild #Preds
NHL rules stipulate that a team that pulls the goalie for an extra attacker and winds up losing on an empty-net goal forfeits the point they get for simply getting to overtime.
The Wild now earn an additional point towards their playoff push. If they want to squeeze in, they will need to have more bold moments like this one.
