Last night Lane Hutson, a Boston University hockey product, made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens versus the Detroit Red Wings but before playing in his first NHL game, he violated a rule that resulted in thousands in fines.

Lane Hutson is one of the most electrifying young players in all of hockey. After a successful year with Boston University and being amongst the top ten for the Hobey Baker Award, Hutson signed his first NHL contract with the Canadiens.

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract (2023-24 to 2025-26) with defenseman Lane Hutson.

During the warm-ups last night, Hutson went out for his solo rookie lap and did so without his helmet, breaking an NHL rule that requires players to have their helmets on at all times while on the ice. This results in a $2,500 fine.

Aside from this, Hutson had quite a strong game registering his first NHL point by skating into free space and getting a shot on net that had its rebuild cleaned up by Brendan Gallagher.

«Lane won't be able to skate through the offensive zone in the NHL like he has in every single level he's ever played»

Lane Hutson, in literally his second shift, doing exactly what he's been doing his entire life.

He's going to be a superstar.

The Canadiens only have one more game this season that Hutson is expected to play and Hutson is penciled in for the opening night lineup for the 2024-25 campaign.
