The New Jersey Devils have just hired former controversial GM of the Philadelphia Flyers Chuck Fletcher in the role of senior adviser to GM Tom Fitzgerald.

Reaction from Devils fans has been mixed, as Fletcher comes with his fair share of baggage. Fletcher is the son of former legendary NHL executive Cliff Fletcher, so Chuck has had some big shoes to follow in, and let's just say, it hasn't gone as well for him as it did for his father.

#NEWS: We've added Chuck Fletcher, Andy Greene and Manny Legace to our Hockey Operations staff.

Chuck was the GM of the Minnesota Wild for nearly a decade from 2009 until 2018, but that decade was extremely mediocre and very inconsistent. He was then the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers from 2018 until 2023, which was once again very mediocre, with no winning formula. Fletcher is also being blamed by fans in Philly for having left current GM Daniel Briere an absolute mess that had to be cleaned up, with the team falling apart.

Fletcher signed Kevin Hayes, Ivan Provorov, Rasmus Ristolainen, Sean Couturier, Joel Farabee and Anthony DeAngelo, and all of these contracts have been deemed terrible by experts and by the Philly fan base. There aren't too many people fond of Fletcher in the cities of Philadelphia or Minnesota. Let's hope he can get the people of New Jersey on his good side for once.
