Nico Hischier calls out his New Jersey Devils teammates after a loss
The New Jersey Devils have been one of the most disappointing teams of the 2023-24 season and their captain is fed up with losing.
Last night the New Jersey Devils faced off against the Buffalo Sabres, two teams pushing for the last wild card spot in the east, and the Devils got pummeled 5-2 after a four-goal performance from Sabres star Tage Thompson.
After the game, Devils captain Nico Hischier called out his teammates for being immature and not finding a way to win games.
"We just got to find a way to win against certain teams, and we haven't done that all year. That should not happen. Just another immature performance by us." - Nico Hischier
After leading 2-0 going into the first intermission, the Devils would get comfortable and blow that lead eventually losing 5-2.
The playoff picture for the New Jersey Devils
As it stands, the Devils are five points out of the final wild-card spot in the east with only eight games remaining. They would need to pass the Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, and the Detroit Red Wings for the final slot and each of those teams has nine or 10 games remaining.
While the playoffs are not completely out of the picture for the Devils, it is clear that they will either just squeak into the playoffs or will be one of the final teams to be eliminated from playoff contention.
