Martin Necas reacts to the missed hit by Rangers captain Jacob Trouba
The second round series between the Rangers and Hurricanes appears to be heating up, especially after a brutal attempted hit by captain Jacob Trouba.
We've known for some time now that Jacob Trouba is one of the most dangerous defenseman in the league, but in game two against the Hurricanes, he may have taken it too far. While he didn't connect with Martin Necas, it's only because the Canes defenseman fell out of the way, because if he didn't, there's a chance that he could have been taken out for the series, or much worse.
Not only did Trouba launch himself into Necas, he also attempted to elbow him in the head, and landed with his skate on the back of Martin's head, with many fans on social media calling for him to face at least a fine despite missing the hit. When asked about the hit, Necas made it known that he thinks Trouba's play was dirty, reacting to his ill intentions on the play;
Martin Necas was asked today what he thought the intentions were from the Rangers defenseman on this attempt -
"I don't know, I guess elbow me in the head. Maybe he was protecting himself going into the boards. He knows. Everybody knows what kind of player he is..."
With games three and four headed back to Carolina, it's safe to say that the team and the fans are going to give him a brutal welcome, and it may be just what this team needs to get back into the series.
